Percy Lizzard MA(RCA) FRSA studied at the Royal College of Art, enjoying the privilege of being tutored by some of the leading contemporary artists of the time. He has exhibited widely including the RA Summer Exhibition. His work is now in many private collections at home and abroad.
He is a Fellow of the Royal Society of Arts and recently relocated to Dorset, which he described as being on holiday all the time. His paintings vary in scale from very large to very small and often feature extravagant gilded frames. They are influenced by travels to exotic destinations, for example India and the Far East, and commonly feature brightly coloured birds, fish, plants, fruits and animals. Matisse, Picasso, De Kooning and Beckmann are strong influences on his development.
He describes his approach to painting as a process of continuous learning searching for new means of depiction and expression.
